WordPress Development

Most WordPress problems are not WordPress problems. They are structure problems, plugin problems, or decisions made by a theme that was never designed for this business. I build and maintain WordPress sites where those decisions are made deliberately.

Who this is for

Businesses and agencies that need a WordPress site built properly, or an existing one taken seriously.

Problems

What this actually solves.

The theme fights the design
Page-builder defaults are built to be universal, which means they are rarely right for one specific business. Where the default would force a compromise, I write the section in HTML, CSS and JavaScript instead.
Every change needs a developer
Sections built so that editing the content does not break the layout it lives in. The business should be able to change words without filing a ticket.
The site got slower every month
Plugin count, image weight and caching behaviour are treated as part of the build, not as a cleanup pass after launch.
Nobody owns it after launch
Layout, plugin, hosting and performance issues get diagnosed and fixed rather than escalated. This is the part of the work with no launch date.
What’s included
  • Custom WordPress implementation from design concepts
  • Theme customization and child themes
  • Custom sections in HTML, CSS and JavaScript
  • Page builders — Elementor, Astra, Woodmart (adaptable to Avada)
  • Responsive, mobile-first implementation
  • Cross-browser compatibility
  • SEO-oriented site structure
  • Performance and Core Web Vitals work
  • Plugin configuration and reduction
  • Ongoing maintenance and troubleshooting
Approach

How the work runs.

  1. Understand the business problem

What the site is for, who it has to convince, and what a good outcome looks like — before any layout decision.

  2. Structure first

Page structure, navigation and heading hierarchy decided before visual work, so the build has a shape to hold on to.

  3. Build the right system

Theme, template or custom code chosen for what the project will need in a year — not for what is fastest this week.

  4. Test, optimize, ship

Real breakpoints, real browsers, RTL where it applies — then images, caching and delivery before launch.

Quality

What “done well” means here.

Fewer moving parts
Presentation handled in CSS and template work rather than by stacking plugins to cover gaps. Every plugin is a dependency someone has to maintain.
Mobile is designed, not shrunk
The phone layout is its own design problem, and usually the one that matters commercially.
Structure that survives editing
The next person — often me — has to change this. Structure that makes the second year cheaper than the first.
Questions

Questions people actually ask.

Do you work with page builders or write everything custom?
Both, deliberately. Elementor, Astra and Woodmart are fine for what they are good at. Where a default would force a design or performance compromise, I write the section in HTML, CSS and JavaScript instead. The tool is not the skill.
Can you take over an existing WordPress site?
Yes — that is most of the work. It starts with reading what is actually there: theme, plugins, hosting, caching and what has been customised. A diagnosis before a plan.
Do you work with agencies as a white-label developer?
Yes. My current full-time role is agency work — building and maintaining WordPress and WooCommerce sites for an agency and its clients.
Contact

Have a site or store that needs to work better?

Tell me what is happening and on which page. A diagnosis is a useful first deliverable on its own.

I read every message myself and reply within one working day — usually with a question or two before anything else, because a scope worth quoting needs them answered.
